Yep, mine was doing that, and I was worried about water ingress, as I drive though a river to get to my off-roading spot. So I did this:
Worked like a charm... until the tube that houses the dipstick broke off right at the bracket that holds it to the firewall. :shock: Had to order a whole new tube assembly, and with shipping from the UK, that worked out to about 150 British Pounds. :( I don't know if it was pressure buildup or the vibrations on the extra weight at the end of the dipstick, but whatever the case was, I was pretty unhappy.
To its credit, at least the new one stays put!
