Alternator leccy connections
« on: May 24, 2007, 15:24:58 »
just ordered a new one from Martin Motors as the bearings are gone, now i though there were a few differant alternators for a Disco 1 300 tdi but they told me there all the same now and did'nt want my chassis number etc.

anyway im wondering about the connections as looking at mine theres 3, the silly little spade one and two others that look to be held on to the black plastic bit on the back with bolt's instead of a plug fitting. is this normal for a 96 N plate..

if someone gets a min, go have a peek under your bonnet if you have a 300 tdi and tell me if your alternator connections are a bolt on job or a plug in one..

cheers

They should be A127i-100amp for the 300 TDi. The difference was in the size of the pulley on the front, hence there are two lengths of drive belt as well.
I have two main alternators listed for the 300 TDi, the early ones were AMR4248 and from VIN VA534104 the part # is AMR5425.
Now, whether they have now combined the part numbers and you put the pulley off the old alternator on the new one or not I don't know. Maybe worth asking though, just to make sure you're getting the right part.
Paddock Spares still list both part numbers.

It was 120 amp or 150 had a sticker on side of it giving outputs and the pully that came with it was the same size as i already had if it is different just use your old pulley

it turned up today in a Britpart box, looks to be the same as mine and has a pulley fitted. no sticker with amp's but has a serial number stamped just inside 3 letters then 100, so im guessing its 100amp which i think is the standed size for a Disco.

it came from martin motors

cheers
