How long.....
« on: May 29, 2007, 14:47:57 »
....will it take me to get from Sheffield to Uxbridge?  I know about the roadworks that start at the M18 Junction (31 I think), are there any other major ones I need to know about (going M1, M25, M40).  I know if you use mulitmap it should give you a time, but my experience with this is that it's very hit-and-miss.  I will be in a company repmobile (either a megane or a focus).  I'm meant to be there just before 10am, will I have to set off at some ungodly hour in the morning (ie before 8am?) .

Cheers

at that time I would allow 31/2 to 4 hours - there are major road works on the M1 round Luton

Best way is to cut across to the M40 using the A43 (j15 M1) then M40 straight into uxbridge, no roadworks and no M25!

Is that past Towcester and silverstone and Brackley? I thought about that route and decided not to suggest it as looks a longer way on the map for him.

Thanks chaps! :D

By the way, muddyjames, I'm of the female persuasion.  Don't think Range Rover Blues (Mr Ant Hill Mob) is in to that sort of thing......unless it's with TimM and his Trifle (but that's another story).

I agree, do that journey twice a week (which is fun....  :(  )
Takes me 2,5 hours on Monday morning, and between 4 and 5 Friday afternoon

Ok, so you're confused, that's easy, being as I'm married to range rover blues, and drive a red range rover.  Range rover red is Andy's SISTER Jane, who used to drive a red range rover until she rolled it going down Bamford clough.  She now drives a green range rover, but range rover green doesn't sound right (bit too much like soylent green).

'Cos I didn't want to be boring and continue the range rover (insert appropriate colour), I chose to be the Ant Hill Mob (apparently I could out-talk any mob), mostly because my car was the only diesel and sounded like chuggaboom from the cartoon series 'the perils of Penelope Pitstop'.

I'm too much of a spanner monkey to christen myself Penelope Pitstop
(oohh, Heeeeelp lil ol me!).

More of a Muttley, really (hehehehehehehe)
