I've been there, done that and agree with Tim - not worth the effort. A 9l capacity cylinder at 300bar only holds about 90 cubic feet of air - just enough to add 20psi to a set of 31x10.5R15's a couple of times, or change one wheel with an impact wrench if all goes well.
I suppose the shape would have a detrimental effect on the pressure that could be held in them. My train of thought was that if you had the weight in there somewhere from something already used then try to make use of it.If that makes any sense. Then I thought maybe not because of the problems of them taking damage.Ed
