Copy of my post from the Series forum:

Oh the joys of owning a military Land Rover, earmenow kindly picked up a voltage stabilier for me yesterday and we went to his garage to do some bits to his 88" and I also tried to find the original voltage stabiliser on mine - to no avail.

It is not behind the instrument panel, anyone any ideas as to its exact location?

Found this

"After having problems with under-reading fuel and temp guages a while ago, I
removed the steering wheel, loosened the instrument panel, disconnected the
speedo drive, accessed the voltage stabiliser and adjusted it to give a more
accurate reading on the guages.

Thanks, but the problem is on my military landy it isnt in the normal place!

Are you sure you have one fitted ?

If the vehicle was converted from 24V, the person doing the conversion may have omitted to fit one.

Just a thought.

Vehicle was 12v from manufacture, is an arctic spec jobby not a ffr or anything fancy like that.

I found this and I thought of you....

They say the stabiliser was well hidden behind the speedo, but maybe theirs is a 'normal' landy. According to the Haynes manual my starter solenoid is 'located on the engine bulkhead'. After half an hours search by me and the AA man we found it hidden under the air filter, and it looked like it had been there since the vehicle was built.
