SS exhaust for a V8 disco

Ok then i'm after some opinions on SS exhaust systems as I've knocked the back box off mine (some time ago) have a small hole in the centre and have just discovered a crack in the Y piece so thought I'd see about a SS sports exhaust.

so the question is who should I go for.

 so far i've found double S, Rimmer Bros and Rpi all do systems (tubular manifolds and full exhaust) for about £450-£500 but which is best and are there any others for a similar price

I have heard that stainless sytems tend to warp around the head and are difficult to seal, not that our crusty old cast iron ones arn't.  Also stainless tends to snap more often, it has a shorter 'fatigue life' and work hardens.  All this means stainless exhausts often have to be heavier than mild steel in order to last any length of time.  They also have a raspy note which some don't like.

Myself I bought a S/H mild steel system for about £30, I'm not too upset then if I trash it off road.

The only problem so far is stainless disipates heat for quicker than mild steel & cook's the floor on long run's or towing

We've got a 3.5 Rangie here with a Double S large bore stainless.

Went on with no problem, sounds bootiful, has been on for 6 or 7 years now.

That's probably why a lot of people wrap them in glass fibre tapes.

:D I fitted rimmer bros stainless sport system with tubualar manifolds to my old classic 3.5 v8 when i restored it some time ago. Cost around £400 quid for complete kit and gave about an extra 10 to 15 bhp doesnt sound alot but i noticed the differance when offroading, throttle response was better and also picked up a lot quiker from standing start. The only snag i found was that the middle box hanged down a bit too much undrneith and caught quite a lot when going over humps, the middle box is now on my current Rangie with other parts of the system (modyfied system to fit bobtailed rangie ). The middle box has taken quite a bashing but still holds firm a testament to a strong construction. Sounds great too not to loud but just right like a tvr sort of rumble.
