off roading on grass
« on: June 08, 2007, 14:15:04 »
Hi all

Now after nursing a 50 year old Sims and Gef Ransomes lawnmower for las 20 years and my god what a machine loved it.

It's finally gone to the great scrap yard in the sky The cylinder blades were like titanium steel the engine ran about 60 rpm!!!!!!!!!! well it seemed that way.

Oh the joy, bowling green finish everytime. You sat on the old roller which was towed behind to sharpen back lash with grinding paste and fine tune.

Anyway modern scrap is not up to the same class but I have to bite the bullet and go for a rotary ride on. I have been looking at a lawnflite 603 which has a big discount at moment anyone got experience with these.

I don't relish spending all my precious day off cutting the grass instead of playing in my Surf.

Cheers H1

Good little tractors these H, you wont have any problems with the engine or running gear
Picks up cuttings quite well in the wet too
Only downside I would say is the collection bag is a pretty flimsical article as the netting seems to perish after a while - can be bought as a spare though
Single blade makes it easy to sharpen and it doesn't eat drive belts either
Bit too modern for me mind - I use a 20 year old westwood for my grass
The nice part of living in a small town is that when I don't know what I am doing, someone else does
