ps and also whats the main things which brake down on them?

Look for rust in the boot floor if has not already been replaced, sills and front inner wings.

check for regular servicing too.

make sure all diff lock etc work too.

Make sure all the door locks work. Don't just press the fob for the central locking. Lock and unlock the doors then try to open each door. Changing the little spring for the locks is a pain in the ...

Press every electrical button to make sure they all work. The back window wiper motors tend to fail.

The rear door handle jams.

Make sure the the ignition key (or at least a key) locks and unlocks the drivers door manualy as this is essential for disabling the imobiliser and reseting the alarm.

Lift the carpet and sqidgy mat under it were the two carpet sections meet under the rear seats - check for rust. Get under neath and have a good poke at the boot floor and sills.

Check the seats for damp stains if it has sun roofs.  And the front foot wells. Especialy if it has front mud flaps.

There must be loads more but I think these are the main ones.

sunroofs and alpine lights for leakage ...... lol i found out the hard way one cold wet winter morning brrrrrrrrr

In addition to the points mentioned above (which are the most important points in my book) also have a quick check for:

Outboard mountings for the rear mud-flaps can rot out (steel and ali in intimate harmony, again!). Check for signs of leakage around the rear alpine lights (the windows on the sides of the roof).

With the engine, check it's not loosing oil dramatically and see what happens on start up. A puff of grey is acceptable, but smoking on throttle up or particularly when releasing the throttle may be a bad sign.

When pulling away, check for clonks, judders rattles and vibrations. It should steer staright and precisely, it shouldn't wander.

On the front axle, check for signs of oil seeping out behind the wheel - a clear sign that the swivel bearings may be on their way out.

It sounds like a big list, but to be honest, most of the above I'd look out for on any car.

well ,first thing i'd  look at is the boot floor , then check out sills and door shuts if its a 5 door
 engine, intercooler see how much oil is round the bottom hose  pull of the hose to the tubo and check the bearing on the impeller ,if it's wobbly it's ####ed check the coolant level 300s are fond of getting hot(not)
then get underneath it and see is there engine oil coming out the bellhousing drain hole  if there is rear seal is on the way out( major pain in the rear to change )
then check u/v joints on the props  swivel seals and axle pans for leaks as well as diff flanges take it for a drive and do lots of brakingsee does the pedal get rock solid . vacum pumps on 300s give lots of trouble
wheel bearings and simple things  like door locks easy to fix but time consuming
just my 2 pennyworth
