Freelander in Eversley Ford

To the driver of the green Freebie who was stuck in Eversley ford:

Next time a kind sod (IE: me) takes the time and effort to get wet and pull you out after you have hydrolocked the engine in your truck, the very least I would expect would be a thanks. Not, "How the _______ am I going to get home now?" and look at me as if I am a taxi driver.

Next time I will leave you in there.

Not that I expect the driver had the good sense to be a member of this forum, although he did have AT's on the car.

I could have got through it if I was careful. Once I had stopped to get the rope attached it was over my bumper and halfway up the lights.

I think he just went too gung-ho.

Nop, I postively hate them. If that had been me being pulled out I would have made sure he knew how grateful I was and he would have had several beers at least on me.

It takes 30 seconds to be courteous to someone who has helped you, and all too often you find it is lacking when it needs it.

If I get recovered at events, I make sure I say "Cheers mate, much appreciated." If you don't, as a few people have suggested, you may well get left there.

Its amazing how many people don't thank the recovery marshalls at events and just assume thats what we are there for. No - we are actually there to do some driving and enjoy ourselves as well. Not pull numpties out all day.

pulled a 7.5t removal van out of a ford on Friday, after he ignored everyone standing on the footbridge waving and saying "No!"

I don't remember him saying thanks either.  Was more worried about how to ge tthe water out of his engine.

On the way to a trial last year after heavy winds, I came across a Freelander and caravan that had a branch stuck up into the caravan arches that he couldn't get out. I pulled out the chainsaw, freed him and he just gets in and off he goes without a thank you!! about two miles up the road a tree had fallen between the car and the caravan! (timing!!)

so the guy says to me "another job for your chainsaw then"!  I politely explained to him, that since he had been an ignorant git the last time he could wait for the council, turned into a field, drove along and out the other side and drove off. SOD HIM

Some people are just unfortunately born rude, which is a shame.

theres even a restuarant by the ford so could have easily bought a pint for ya (of non alcoholic beer of course!)

I always make sure I thank people. I think maybe I thank people too much and they get annoyed but I am very grateful most of the time.

I am starting to learn in life that being too kind just comes around and bites you on the deryair!!

being a freelander driver myself im always ready with an  :oops: and a big 'thank you' when I driver too far off road trying to follow the modded defenders! :lol:  One day I will learn!

I was at Radyr pay and play site on sunday, going down a hill track with was also at a slight angle, and the freelander just slide sideways into the bushes and I had to all for help.

I dont think the guys and girls there would have been so friendly if I haddnt said thank you  :D  One guy who got his special stuck I believe got them a crate of beer to say thanks!  :P

I once ran down a muddy embakment to phone this young mums father as she had hit the steel rails on a bridge in the rain and was facing the wrong way with no front wheel on a very busy park way .I got covered in mud and soaked and when her father turned up he had a go at me because i had turned the car round for her and scraped the bumper on the road.
I point out that as the car was more than likley a wright off any way and the fact it was in the path of fast moving traffic{70 plus] i thought it best move it .By this time the police came along and he started to go on about the damaged i'd caused to his dauthers car and such like ,to which the police mans mouth dropped in surprize to how this so called father was acting .I left them to it .All i was trying to do was help a young mum with 3 kids out of a bad postion and look at the thanks i got for it.[!Expletive Deleted!] all.
