My old V8 with 2" sus lift and 2" body lift. on 33" BFG's :)

Very nice truck that was just a bit too thirsty for me..










And my last RRC running a isuzu 2.8TD.. only 1.5" lift on 235/85

Mine is a 3.5 and used to do a 220 mile round trip every weekend and work and back every day, also done a 450 mile round trip with a Brian James trailer and a Merc 190 on its back  8)
and it is on LPG   :D

Heres our rrc 2.4 vm, 2" lift, snorkal, steering guards etc etc great fun .............. everyday vehicle and plaything too :D

The spare is upright in the boot, Mine with the bigger tyres is now on the roof rack  :wink:

There is one in the bearmach catalogue that is the 'swing away' type

there ok till you go off roading the bottom catches and pushes it up damaging the back wing area fiited one to my old rangey but took it off lot better up on the roof wil see if i ve got a pick

Disco's are a lot better inside a bit more modern and up to date.

but range rovers look better from the outside when there modded..

Thats is now and old picture, as of now I have a little more due to changing the bushes in the front back to metalastic and fitting the longer front dampers. I didn't have the camera to hand today but the new RTI is approximately 819 :D and there is still more left to extrat.


Effectively its Gwyn Lewis challange kit, however only the rear damper mounts are actually made by Gwyn Lewis. The dampers are supplied by Llama4x4 and are 11" travel rough country dampers and the front damper mounts are home made from good metal that would other wise be scrap.

Other changes include the one piece rubber metalastic bushes normally fitted to RRC with an Anti Roll Bar. The bodge SLU is removed from the rear. The brake lines are +4 and rear one is slightly repositioned due to body lift. Springs are LR green/pink front and red/white rear.

The lower SLU mount is binding of the diff casing in the above picture and will need prunning. The rear bushes are binding quite badly so cranked trailing arms are on the shopping list to get the most out of the rear. As for the front, I suspect that will get a hidged radius arm, but that is some time off.

In terms of finacial cost, to date its cost approximately £330 in parts.

Different horses for different courses!
You want a family vehicle full of practicality with good mileage then get the Disco.
If you want the best looking Land Rover ever built with all the refinements and yet so capable off road, then get the Rangie.
Both can rust quite spectacularly too.

we have had a l reg disco but still went back to a j reg VM  rangie they are loads more comfy for both driver and passengers (so our kids tell us) and the kids don't mind facing backwards but hated facing sidewrds in the disco!!!

My spare wheel carrier is Tim :lol:


Of course I'm biased towards the RRC, but given that the Disco is basically a RR anyway, the choice is down to what you want to do with it when it's not in the mud.  For a family car the Disco has advantages, but the RRC has the refinement as is a bit less top-heavy too.

He has put endless engines in and cant make his mind up or kils it off road through deep water. oops. He is about to put a 2.4vm engine the last time I spoke to him. Probably changed his mind since then!!

Loads of space in the back though :lol:
