I was at work yesterday & one of the Consultants secretarys told me about a booklet that had arrived in the department.


We were both aghast at it.

Yes, it looks as though we too are about to travel down that slippery slope of Diversity Training :(scared):
She's now glad that she's only got a couple of years before she retires.

Me?, I reckon my 'card will be marked' for questioning it all.

Surely the most basic factor is 'Treat Others As You Would Wish Them To Treat You'
(it doesn't always work, you can be polite to the point of nausea, then receive nothing but abuse in return)

I had to go on a "Equality & Diversity" course the other month, what a load of twaddle. Richard knows which organisation I work for so he probably won't be suprised  :D .

You have my sympathey! :D   Luckily at our place it was a voluntary attendance course all the office bods attended but of the 12 guys on the gangs only 2 went! their reason for going free lunch provided! :lol:

SWMBO Was providing training for a council in a bourgh of a town well known for it's PC madness...

Getting the pre-training brief from the sponsor... was being taken through the list of things that can't be said...

The usual ones came up... but wife was flabnbergasted to find that she couldn't say...

Flip... as in Flipchart...

As it seems it may be offensive to Phillipinos.....

The diversity rabble where I work sent out a spam mail to the entire company this week on different superstitions around the world..

[Edited] is that all about?

I'd say they'd be first against the wall when the revolution comes, but, to be honest, I think we're going to need a longer wall.

I suppose it could be offensive to Phillipinos if you staple them together, stuck them on a tripod and drew all over them with felt tip pens, but somehow that would be unlikely.
What next? Not being able to use the word Finish, icase it upsets people that live in a Scandanavian country that borders Russia? :roll:

My son got told off at school for saying that he'd had a brainstorm. The teacher went mad cos it's offensive to epilectics.

Teacher- It is and how would you know you are'nt epilectic.

Pandemonium in class as the teacher was the only one who did'nt know.

When I did a plod trainers course in Manchester, a mate of mine got a piece of 'constructive feedback' from the staff, as he had used the word queery in the following context.

"If any of you have any problems or queeries with that last topic, come and talk to me afterwards, and I'll explain it"

Apparently the use of the word 'query','may have been' offensive to any homosexuals, lesbians, bi-sexuals, or transgender persons who may have been in the audience.

Needless to say, no one complained, and the only people who took issue with it were the ultra PC trainers.

Its a lot of rubbish mixed in with common sence! My skipper was thrown out for not taking it seriously... you could always try that!

Apparantly all the books that are given out (the copies for us 'grunts' haven't been issued yet) are serial-numbered & it has to be copied onto hte exam papers & the book returned afterwards (intact :roll:)

I worked with an african/american gentleman (Jay) in my last work place who liked black coffee.

The PC mentalists sent a memo out, informing everyone that the term "black coffee" was racist, so we had to use the term "coffee without milk"

Jay refused point blank to be so petty, and was ultimately disiplined for using racist language!!  After his hanging oops sorry hearing he walked into the staff room and announced VERY loudly, "Ok who wants white coffee and who wants black"

The managers nearly had a fit, but wisely decided to back down!

The irony of all this is the black, jews, muslims, and everyone else all look at us pasty white fools shakling their heads and wondering what the <edit> we are doing. Ask them, they'll tell you. Why we dont just start slapping people in the face whenever they mention something that we can or cannot say, it would save a lot of argument..! :lol:

We have to have Equality and diversity training, PITA although the last one was'nt too bad-the instructor actually used the word "homosexuals" not "gay"-surprised he has'nt been reported to the pc thought poluce :o

Just looked up gay in the concise Oxford dictionary it says "full of or disposed to or indicating mirth", sportive, airy, offhand!!!

It is a 1964 edition-guess I need a new one. :roll:

I have been on several union and civil service courses-they a=re so full of pc nonsnse that I try not to do any more. Can't be doing with it.
I treat people as individuals and in the way I expect to be treated.
