anyone know anything about these wonderful cars?
as some of you may well know i run a passat for the motorway miles/see my mrs/school etc etc... you get the picture.

now this car has been amazing, it has covered 135,000 miles, and now the wipers are a bit iffy.
i mean they are now so so so slow that they barely move accross my windscreen.  when i put them on full speed they stop in the middle of the screen. even on the slowest setting they still are jittery.... and UBER slow! is there any easy way of fixing this problem? anyone know where to start looking/how to fix?

thanks for all input!

1) what age is the vehicle?

might need a new replacement part if it is an older vehicle

2) do they judder accros the screen?

if they judder accross the screen then take the motor off, disconnect the plug, remove the screws in the plate, take the plate off, check the contacts inside and clean the grease off then with a bit of emmery or wet'n'dry paper, rub the surface down, replace all parts in reverse order and try that,

hope it works

if not it will require a new motor

have a look at it first if it is different to what i said about a plate then there might be a set of brushes on the top or side of it take them out

i have only worked on brand new 05 - 07 VW's and older ones like 80 - 90 VW's

under the bonnet there is a scuttle panel (where the wiper blades/arms are) under the trim you will find the motor (might be on the drivers/pasenger side or in the middle)

check and clean should take about 30 mins - 2 hours depending on accessabillity

As Ben said.

They have a habbit of gumming up round the spindle and its also that famous VAG grease that sets hard on some.

You should be able to strip it if its the same unit as on the B4 Audis. Just give it a good clean, regrease with lithium grease and bobs yer uncle. I'm just down the road if need be.

Thats a bit bizarre. Bet no-one has though about skimming the head or checking the top of the block :)
