when changing the battery in the fob all power in the fob must be drained other wise it don't work.

Take battery out, press the buttons like 10 times to drain all power in fob  and then put it back together. When back together, press the unlock button several times and hey presto  :P

We had a guy come in for a new battery the other day.
Upon opening the fob you could see (if you loked closely) that the cradle that holds the battery was breaking connection to the main body.
A small amount of soulder later and all was fine.

is yours a 2 button fob or a single button one? Mine is a 300tdi with a single button fob. Sorry I'll change that. Mine has the single button fob but never use it due to being very dodgy unlocking the disco. I have been told there is no override with the key in the lock either. So I have put the fobs somewhere safe and use the key now!

Oh yeah. last time I unlocked the disco with the fob it took me 30mins of pushing the button. NEVER again!

Hi Gareth

Changed the battery in my 2 button fob at the weekend and unlocked the Disco first time after the change without any problem

it was a 2 button fob.

And after draining the power out it worked perfectly after that :)

Good news all round then Phil and Simon.

I know about the draining of the battery trick as about 2 years ago me, my whole family and some close friends went on holiday and stayed in this old fashioned cottage in a small quaint village called Colwall in Malvern. I was the last to park onto the drive so everyone was boxed in and it was very quiet and peaceful. Next thing, I've changed the fob casing and the battery and it won't unlock or lock, its just stuck there. Opens the door with the key, alarm starts screaming, couldn't shut it up. In the end I called remote key who I had bought the casing off and they told me the drain battery trick and it worked first time.

Everyone was panicing as they were all stuck on the drive and I had blocked them in
