D1 Heated Front Screen?
« on: July 10, 2007, 12:38:20 »
Hi all, had a bit of a nightmare at the weekend, which turned out to have s ilver lining though  8)

I work as a Doorman, was just leaving the Bar where I work on Friday night and I got ambushed   some idiot threw a full bottle of Budweiser off a bridge at me, it smashed on the front screen, obviously it was a right mess.

When I rang Autoglass on Saturday morning, the nice girl on the phone asked if it was a heated screen ........... I somehow made a mistake    and said it was, they came and fitted the new heated screen yesterday, the wiring was there at the bottom of the dash so they connected it up for me.

Now all I need to know, if one of you helpful fellas can assist, is what else do I need to fit? Switch would be a good start of course, just wondering if there's a relay I'll need too?

Many thanks in advance.

A

If the wiring is already at the windscreen then one could assume that its within the loom behind the dash......, all you will need to do is find it and the blank space that should have had the switch....., look at the dash layout picture, this should tell you.

Hi mate, yes have seen the layout pic and know what and where the switch needs to go, sorry my question doesn't seem as clear now I've read it back, I was asking if there was any sort of "control box" type thing I'll need to buy or is it as simple as adding a switch and relay?

Thanks

Had a heated screen fitted to the TD5 all wiring was in place all it needed was a switch and relay - then the BCU had to be reprogrammed, obviously not needed on D1. Brilliant bit of kit in the winter!
