ooooh, the time has come for my first MOT!! how exciting! not.
right so i need to book it in ASAP but my question is... how do i prepare....?

someone told me to run her hard before i get there to pass the emissions test... is this true?
any other tipps?
AFAIK she is in perfect condition... if a little muddy :) should i get her spik and spank first?

Diesels dont have emissions tests, they do have smoke tests and yes, a good hard run before can help to clear her out, as can a bottle of diesel injector cleaner the week before :)

EDIT: dont take her in muddy, they can refuse to test a mucky vehicle.

It's still classed has a emissions check. Get your self some forte' diesel treatment best on the market. Replace the fuel filter and put that in neat and give it a run.

Don't bother running her hard unless it is going straight into the emissions...it could be left for a while before they test it!
Give the underneath a pressure wash & clear all the junk out of the vehicle.
They can refuse to test if they can't get to all seats, seat belts & if it is too dirty underneath!!
Make sure all the basics are working, lights, horn, wipers, washers, No.plate intact, windscreen not crack/chipped, tyres legal etc... If the spare is not legal take it off...it's not required for MOT.
Remeber they can test vehicles upto one month before the due date & post date it for 12 months after original date i.e. giving upto 13 months MOT.

Let us know how it fairs...good luck
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

You wait till you have kids matey! Then you'll know what having nerves is all about!

Good luck with it, Rob. If it does not go according to plan (note, no use of the 'F' word), I'll do what I can re help regarding rectification.

hehe, yeh actually. i could not find the jet wash    :?
but she wasnt that muddy, most of the mud had fallen off from the 4 and a half hour journey back from mid wales!!! hehe
the most important advisory was the NS front swivel pin something or other... so i might do the whole job.,.. its a big job apparently from what i have read on here!!
