Anti 4x4 group litter dropin in m/cr.
« on: December 18, 2004, 18:06:00 »
  Just seen on Granada news, Alliance Against 4x4s members putting anti 4x4 literature on 4x4 windscreens found parked up in mcr city centre. I beleive everyones got a write to air there veiws but to go around slapping this sort of c**p on 4x4 vehicles is downwrite annoying and luky that no one give them a slap for there troubles. Could they be done for ilegal litter or something... Granada are to blame as well, they didnt talk to a 4x4 owner so that he or she could put there veiws accross.
If in first you dont suceed, try second....

Media are to blame as much if not more for this extremely one sided 'story' about 4x4's

Popped in to the loacl shop yesterday, first time in ages.

Started chatting with the girls in there, one made the mistake of 'mentioning' she'd seen alot of anti 4x4 stuff in the papers (she works in london)

After an interview with a blow torch (me  ) she now thinks very differently, and if can get time off work, the other ones coming 4x4ing with me

2 down 59 millionish to go  :)

You know what the media motto is, don't you :?:  Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.    Well, that's what a journalist told me.

I'd like to see them going around Billing next year slapping these leaflets on windscreens

Me if I need to go into Leeds city center I get the train in, far easier. Parking is a sod and the majority of car parks I can't get into because of the roof rack on.

Still not on though

Woops!!! D & P .

I may be stupid for asking this, but what does d&p stand for.

Anyway what annoys me is that these people are just normal joe blogs, not m.ps or any kind of officials. So what gives them the write to force there opinions on other people. Alright they feel very strongly about what they beleif in, but i dont go around telling people they must drive 4x4s or that ramblers mustnt walk on rupps or byways and all cars must run on gas etc..... Ive visited there web-site and put my opinions accross, proberbly been scrubbed of now or ill get a visit from rent a mob and find my rangie vandalised one morning.

I've made my views about these p******s well known to to you all before http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=3543  but I was pleased to see a couple of weeks ago that 5th gear did a mock pedestrian accident using a saloon car and a Range Rover, guess what, the pedestrian is safer being hit by a Range Rover!

And given that half of us run on LPG we're doing them a favour, if we didn't use it LPG would be burned off in flares at the refinery, so it's a by-product of people driving Euroboxs (Exept it burns cleaner in an engine because of the higher compression and therefore temperature!).

Like any good defence you just break down their arguments one by one, eventually they resort to personal insults, like the guy interviewed opposite Jezza the other week, and you know what, your point's won.

If only that were true.

The media and some politicians (who haven't done any research into the facts) have started jumping on the bandwagon.

If we don't speak up, there is a danger that the general public will start to believe the hype, and then... rather than some silly, isolated incidents, 4x4's could well become the target of more general sentiment.

Unfortunately, I fear you are right Tim :(  Once a bandwagon has started (publically) rolling, all manner of "interested" parties jump on.

Still, it's good to have the 4x4Prejudice web site and my Discovery now displays the nice, big, bright yellow "Don't believe the hype" sticker, on the back window.

It's something that will have to be watched very carefully!

I was 15 minutes in a local shop (close to where this idiot's Father lives) and I had one of those fake parking tickets put on my windscreen.  What made me chuckle (apart from all the lies - 12mpg in a Freelander    ) was that the Hummer parked up from me had 4 - maybe she thinks as his windscreen is bigger is should have double?
I spoke to the drive of the Hummer and is attitude was "if he had as much time on his hands as she obviously has, he could find a more worthy cause. Like RSPCA, the elderly, etc"
This chav used to live in Cheltenham and went to school there. Now she lives in London and gets her Father (Ford Focus driver) to do her dirty work locally. She's had interviews on our local TV and Radio. Even the local press gave it front page news!!
No one conned me into buying a Freelander, lady - I've always wanted one!! It doesn't do 12mpg - it does 32mpg.  Try having a moan about MPVs like a Voyager, that's bigger than a Hummer!!!
Had my moan now, sorry.
I would love to get my hands on a big sticker saying "I drive this because I want to"

link to LROi forum;http://threads.lro.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=forum&Number=525841&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5 I'm having quite a fun game with 'Sian' asking her for hard statistics to back up their claims, in the nicest possible way of course - if they think we're on their side they co-operate!! - keeps her out of mischief!!

How about mounting a Vickers on the bonnets of all 4x4's (just to reinforce our point when needed)            (only joking OK!!!!)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it ain't dirty, do something about it!!

Yeah, I know it's not white and it's not a 90 but my last one was :-)
