Now that duty has been removed from veg oil if usage is under 2,500lt/yr, I'm seriously considering a veg oil conversion :D
http://www.smartveg.com/news/hmrc_duty_free.php

Has anyone done one themselves/employed a company to do it?
How do they run, is it worth it   :?: :?:

A guy that came to pick some wheels up was running Veg Oil, he had done no mods at all to his engine, he was told if your 90 has a Bosch fuel filter and pump it will run all day long with a little white sprit!!

Run this by me again, I can use SVO as a fuel without having to worry about fuel duty :(biggrin):

You sure :(kerching):

And I add a little white spirit (please tell me there is no fuel duty on that).

Off to the wholesalers then.

I've just read the info in the link posted at the beginning. It says in there that Producers don't have to pay tax on it. (Thats the people making biofuel) doesn't say anything about Joe public using veg oil.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

I watched and was informed of this change in the program Working Lunch, it was quite clear, personal use up to 2,500 ltrs is duty free. Those who produce and sell on are still liable to some form of tax.

its legal to produce your own bio as long as you do not exceed 2.5t or 2500l its both the same
we had a metric ton (1000l) deliverd to my works and he told us then that we are allowed to produce 2500l for our own personal use and its duty free and totaly legal
do a search for alisonracing, thats the guy

It's certainly true, details HERE:

If you mix veggie oil and diesel (even in the tank of your vehicle) you are "producing" bio diesel so yes it is available to Joe public. As far as I can discover there is no requirement to register as a producer but it would be wise to keep all diesel and oil receipts and a log of your mileage in case HMR&C come calling.

THESE are the proposals in full from the HMR&C website

So looks like I might be considering going green.
Still a bit worried about long term damage mind.
If theres a harder way to do it I`ll find it!!

It is slightly reassuring however I was thinking more of longer term damage.
