I really don't see why anyone can object to been asked to behave when they are out in Public. If People were loud, abusive, racist, urinating in public on their way home from the local nightclub/pub etc they would be liable to get arrested. Why would anyone thnk it's acceptable to behave illegally just because they're away from home.

Or at least a stern talking too.

I aslo agree with these comments and if we were the guilty party and 'had' been spoken to then this would have been taken into consideration, however i also agree with the earlier comment that if the beer tent is open until 2am then you should expect a 'degree' of antic's that may upset some people

Those that are behaving in this way should be spoken to and if they continue they should be asked to leave.

If YLROC have the capacity on the site to arrange segragated area's for those who enjoy the 'social' aspect of these events and those that wish to have a family area then I would be happy to continue to support this event.

for the record, regarding the description of the incident given by Mucks better half then I too would not find these comments/actions  acceptable and would not hesitate in making this plain to the offending parties.

well its acceptable behaviour round here chances are you won't get stopped or arrested even when spotted by the plods, there too concerned with stopping the odd motorist with a dodggy brake light.

In general behavour at night and in the day in town centres has got worst with relaxed drinking.

I've been to some events but not this one, after a bit one seems to get to know who will start off, which groups over the years tend to be the worst and camp well away from them.

Its not just organised events, general camp sites suffer as well, some owners are very tough i've seem whole groups thrown off at 2 in the morning with little warning and the plods waiting incase they drive even on the site. Some campsites now have 4x4 ban for groups because of bad behavour in the past. Ohters have a strict no noise what so ever after a certain time, this on the whole this works, on minute lots of laugher, music, the next just the sound of the warden travellin round listening to noise, everyone aware of the rule, any noise and your off.

Some however are not as tough, again i start to avoid these, its not just 4x4 groups but any groups, hence us the campsite fourms to check for previous problems and guess what, same old groups causing the same old problems.

So maybe a answer than, up to a certain time party time after that nothing its up to the organisers to enforce the rules, but if everyone knows in advance then don't see a problem, at least those who want to sleep know when it might stop.

as an inpartial outsider who has never attended this event but has helped orginise many inc. Tom's Land Rover World record Challenge and the national 4x4's I must say from what I am reading here it would seem that the, "blame" does sit with the orginisers who should have acted at the time if they were that botheredand not just put up this post that just creates bad feeling nearly a year after the event!!!!!!!!!!!

no-one said Mud club caused the trouble last year.

The complaint we received concerned drunken, abusive, racist, threatening, aggressive behaviour and foul language. We do not know who these guys were but campers should not have to put up with that.

It is always a few who spoil it for the many!!!

Taking the above into consideration, I think the original posting here was perhaps somewhat ill-considered, and a general apology might be a good idea.

Maybe you guys should try reading our 2 posts again. You all seem to be missing the bit that clearly states "WE DON'T KNOW WHO CAUSED THE TROUBLE LAST YEAR!"
And while we're on the subject we couldn't do anything about it sooner because we only found out last week when we received a booking form containing a letter of complaint instead of a cheque!

Exactly; I did understand, and in fact quoted,  that from your partner's post. Despite that, you still felt the need to post it here, and you originally said

The first time it was caused by Mud Club members, who I will not name but you can search the forum and you will see them bragging about how they got so drunk they fell under tables and stayed there.
Hence my comments above. If there was a problem in 2005, it should have been raised then, not 2 years later, in retrospect and due the behaviour of an apparently unrelated group of people.
The fact that the complainants did not see fit to raise their grievance at the time tells me that this is something they have stewed over, and perhaps magnified it in their minds.
For the sake of peace and enjoyment for all concerned, might I suggest ear plugs for the 'quiet-nighters' ?  :)

it seems that mountains may have been made out of molehills a tad, and its in fear of marring a good social event!!

its right to say that antisocial behaviour is not acceptable in any situation, but antisocial behaviour needs to be addressed at the time and the appropriate action taken. not deliberated over a year after the event!!

i realise that moses has only just found about it but its too late to do anythin about it now. no need to suggest that people should go to peterborough if theyre goin to get drunk and rowdy. if it happens deal with it then. we are all adults afterall!! its like my mum tellin me not to get drunk if i go to the pub!! lol

and for the record.... drumclog was also a great event and we did party into the wee hours and everyone had a good laugh with miniman and his song. as i remember it was one of the organisers that was the last to go to bed. again... were all adults and have the freedom of choice!!

and i was used as the table in JW's group... but only cos i was in the wrong place at the right time for someone to rest his beer on my back!! lol

theres enough doom and gloom in the world for us not to let it enter into our social lives and stop us enjoying ourselves. were on this earth for a good time not a long time so make the most of it!!
