That's the baby

It's a Saviem, or is it Renault, based cab?

Somewhere here in 'BTM Towers' I have a copy of the (original??) sales brochure, with a 4x2 tractor unit at a container dock on the cover.

And I believe the unit is still on the road, working for a recovery company (will go & check it out)

Can't find the brochure at the moment, but have found this site;

http://www.fordtranscontinental.nl/

From the site, this is the cover of the early brochure I have

Which is still in the employ of TransLink Rescue

Then of course there was the famous (yellow & blue) Transcontinental that was the hauler for the Bandag Bullet D Series

IIRC Renault used the same can manufacturer.

The transcontinental was way ahead of it's time, with only a 32Tonne MAM there was way too much trucj there for some operators.

Love that ERF too, bet that can drink.  A lot of Harrison's in Sheffield has gone now but I think they may have one tucked away for when the highwaymen finally give out.

Co-incidentally I was reading an old copy of 'Classic & Vintage Commercial' the other day & it has a feature in it about Harrisons and their fleet in the 60's.

Don't get me going, we have an old 1982 C series ERF day cab, ours has the 265 Rolls Royce lump in it, it is piped up with a hydraulic tank (must have been a tipper or tanker tractor), its looking a bit rough around the edges now, I wouldn't mind ressurecting it for a project, is it worth doing?  It runs and starts well (have to be patient with the old 8 speed 4 over 4 box!), I will get a picture and post it on,  we only use it as a yard shunter (I am sure there is only me that checks the oil!!) :roll:
