20th July Weather Warnings

Met Office issue Severe weather warnings

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html

Localised downpours on Thursday will be covered by flash warnings. Concern then focuses on a prolonged period of heavy and thundery rain affecting southern parts of England and Wales on Friday, then moving into more northern areas overnight and into Saturday. Rainfall totals of 20-40mm are expected quite widely but there is potential for 75-100mm in places. At this stage, there is still some doubt about where the highest totals will occur but southern and central areas of England and Wales are most at risk. The heavy rain could lead to flooding in some areas and cause disruption to outdoor events and transport networks.

Issued at: 1007 Thu 19 Jul

Keep an eye open for flooding people- up to 4" of rain could be a problem!!

Just heard the town by where I live has been hit with flooding, first time in donkeys years, school has been evacuated as it was flash flooded - children were still inside at the time, several roads have been closed off as impassable, familys have been rescued from they're homes by emergency services and cars stranded due to high flood water

On the plus side, if there is a plus side, I gotta drive through it on the way home, camera is at the ready
Moved over to the dark side - Suzuki's !

Had a torrential downpour this afternoon and there were a few flooded areas, but nothing too bad in this neck of the woods.

Had a bit of 2x2 rescuing to on the way home.

The main Coventry/Rugby road- blocked by 2x2's

Little Lawfrord ford- 7 feet deep and rising!

Fosse Way near Brettford- also blocked by 2x2's till I towed them out.

Fosseway was also blocked by broken down 2x2's at Princethorpe.

Only a few today

Then this Merc came round the corner and started off well, till it got deep

Bit further round the corner

I was only looking to avoid the traffic that built up south of Reading due to the flooded roads...
And only drove through the big one a few times once the cars were out of the way

In laws drove down from York, got to Jnct12 of the M4 in 4 hours, then another 4 to get to Tadley due to all the flooding and stuck people.

Looks like fun! I must live somewhere that is too high up as i never see any decent puddles :(

and a 2x2 would be a 2 wheel drive bicycle ;). most cars are 4x2's (4 wheels, 2 driven) ;)

Just got in after rescuing 2 mates from 2 different floods around henley and a quite hypothermic woman on the way home.
Never seen flooding like it. Now why didn't I buy that snorkle last month when it flooded!

Front page of the Sun- how not to wash a Shogun.....

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007330731,00.html

Not sure if the guy tried to drive through this or became stranded some other way but the sign clearly reads 6' deep? Why is it some 'inexperienced' 4x4 drivers think they can drive through anything? At best - even with a snorkel- 3 feet is the safe maximum in STILL WATER. In fast flowing water the best advice is to stay out.

Are you sure thats a mouse, Laserjock , and not a Water Vole? If it is a vole, you are quite lucky as they are quite rare.
