thanks for the props on the tyre choice. my first choice was some 32" simex extreme trekkers but then i would have to go to uprated diffs/halfshafts/cvs i really dont have the money for that there also not cheap! i got my pacage for £625 and i think i got a better deal :lol:
unfortuanteley i dont have asmuch time to spend on the disco as i did now im back at college, but ive orderd evereything i need for now(and still under budget! YES! :D ) just waiting on x-eng for there balljointed trailing arms and allisport to build my fuel tank. but hopefully it will be done soon.

i got my dads old td5 alive ss exhaust(he got a devon side exit one now) are the exhaust fitments on the front pipe the same for the td5 and tdi?

started a little body work...then i ran out of washing up liquid....sounds random but i know what im on about. order from devon should be here by the end of the week. x-eng arnt going to have any of there arms any time soon so im going to put in an order for some rosejointed arms. i have a cat....first ive known about it! and i have found a mysterey wire hanning from my transfer box/transferbox area its white and really skinny, would it be for the sensor for the diff lock dash light? also the transfer box is leaking out oil can anyone tell me why? or does it normally do that?

Seems a while since I last looked at this thread, looks to be coming allong nicely.

One query I have is on the polybushs your getting, most are relativerly stiff and reduce your suspension articulation (on the front mainly) which considering the Rough Country dampers and X-springs this is not what your trying to achive. I ended up going back to rubber bushes on the front after fitting 11" Rough Country dampers.

The second query is the front damper turret mounts. They look like standard height units when typically rough country dampers are used with 2" raised mounts.

In the short term you can always just stick with standard trailing arms arms and change them at a later date when X-joint ones are avalible, I find that with dislocating springs I still get all but an inch of travel on standard arms and bushes with the same damper setup as you've got.

Yes, i was wondering about the bushes....there red, what ones do i need?
And the twin shock turrets are -1!!!! lrs sold me them at lr fest assuring me that itll be fine but David at llama4x4 had different ideas.... im going to mount the outer shock only because if i were to mount them through the spring they would fowl on the x spring top hat :? im going to be machining up some spacers for them unless anyone wants to buy/trade them for some +2.
i am no longer fitting the cranked arms, i was told by an engineer at Devon that that will cause worse problems with my castor angle so i haven’t bothered, yet. May fir some qt rose jointed arms if the x-eng ones don’t come through!

Got the rear springs/tyres/spacers on yesterday. Made a bit of an error on judgement as I don’t think itll fit out the garage now! And getting all that stuff on was a pain in the arse as im only by myself and didn’t have all the tools I needed so more effort was required and the pics are a little blurry because I was shaking so much.





















if you havnt noticed this by now the disco has moved over to the left alot.....to put it in short i had a mishap with a hi lift.

If they are genuine polybush then the red onesa are the stiffer ones, genuine blue polybushes are the only soft (relativerly speaking) polyuerathen bushes I'm aware of, though I'm not sure about the Super Pro bushes as they use different compound bushes for each part of the vehicle.

Thats a good idea just using the outer mount on a twin mount damper turret, though unless you plan on running bumpstops extended by 3" over stock (and seriously limiting upward suspension movement) then you will need to do something about the length.

ok, i may look into that then, i dont think i can be botherd to send them back so ill just give these a try(i was told they dont last to long if your off roading alot anyway!) i dont really know much about bushes. im going  to try the shock mounts....im not sure how the bottom plate thing for the second shock mounts, but if it mounts the way i think it does then the shock is mounted a little lower anyway, but im unsure. anyone have any pointers on fitting them? if i were to put the extended stops on would it be a but of a shi**y ride on the road and limit my articulation?

havnt managed to get the x-springs on the front, i was pushing the little bottle jack to the limit and diddnt want to risk damage. i also had a problem getting the second shock mounts on as they connect on to the panard rod and radius arm and i diddnt have a big enough spanner. got one today so should be on soon aswell as the damper.

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!

ive not been working on it much, havnt been riding lately and i was getting fat......took a week to sort that out!


today, got the front dampers on.
plummed in the old tank and started it up......it sounds hidious.
 got a cat replacement pipe from D44 and modified it slightley to mate it up with the TD5 alive exhaust but i couldnt get the old pipe off :?(very frustrating!)
not really any visible changes. just pulled it out the garage just to take some photos. looks good

still no word from allisport about my fuel tank!

the dampers are rough country (+6 i belive) and they are -1" twin shock turrets from LRS i have only mounted the outside shock to allow more articulation. if you want those ones they are up for grabs, i have about 2.5" of travel on my damper so i think the -1" idea was a bad one!

just the brackets? there just 2 pieces of folded steel welded together. to be honist you would be better off just making them to fit  the vehicle

fuel tank finally came!!!! it is a real work of art, ive done alli welding before but could never get it as neat and uniformed as this! props to allisport! thanks guys.
