that raingie(yellow one) was built by a guy called jez, the full build is on superv8racing.com i think. he built mouse, the yellow "thing" i posted pics of a few days ago. nice bloke.the only 2 discos i have seen with tubular wings is the one on dumper tyres and one that is currently in howling wolf. i haven't been working on the disco for the past few days, been doing a trial at a job in haverhill but I'm not going back....its [!Expletive Deleted!]!

i got alot of work to do! as i keep saying  ihave to get my arse in gear and sort some of this out. i need a way of supporting the disco chassis so  i can take all 4 wheels and axles off and make them look pretty and so i can work on the wings. may see if i can half inch some off of mark at the farm. also going to look into making my own stuff from now on(trailing arms, cage, bead lock rims looking into PTO winches).....its a nicer feeling at the end of the day.
but at the moment i have no clue! i am playing it by ear, ill have a plan in my head then diversify from it into something else then into something else. it could even end up as a tray back at the end of my sporadic ideas. its not a good thing to do.
may have some more pics for you tomorrow, got the tray welded up, but I'm not sure weather to weld it to the chassis or to bolt it(i don't have a diecont drill at the moment!)

I would bolt it on - that way if it gets damaged you can take it off and apply the big hammer. Plus if you think "Hmm, I could have made it better by doing this" in a few months time it'll be much easier to remove it and make way for version 2.0.

as said, welded some of it together. but not done, need more steel.
i went a bit over board with the welding, am a bit concerned that something will break so there are multiple welds on a HOT setting. itll all get grinded down and made to look nice before it gets put in place for good also need to think of a name for it, a friend came up with Juggernaut....i think because he was watching x-men at the time but i wouldn't know. over all I'm a little lost, i will be back and forth tomorrow measuring and thinking....also looking at What i need from billing ;)

Yep, that's the horn - very helpful photos for me as I've been trying to work out if an extra pair of horns will fit below the standard ones. Looks as though they will, so more volume should be forthcoming!

for a start i would say your winch is 2 low,

you will get fed up of it hitting the deck

been there done that with mine & now it sits above the chassis legs

don't want to trayback it for the same reason i didn't want an auto....i don't do fashion :lol: the boggers will need around a 4" lift with alot of arch chopping or a 5" with a bit more than i got......i think....that's what the tape measure tells me but i have never actually stood next to 38" tyres.....maby tomorrow will sway me towards 35s :lol: i am beginning to sway to the simex anyway, there just that little bit cheaper, but boggers are just bad

i am not sure on the winch tray. it may be to low your right but from the dimensions i have got the 8274 wouldn't fit if i made it higher. the chances are that that tray will be going in the back anyways so it matters not.

and as for the blue disco being a "mess" i dissagree, it has caricature and its put to work and by the look of it it works whoops well! besides, you haven't seen mine in full view yet :lol: now that's a mess!

anyway. been playing with the Egr today. made a blanking plate for the manifold out of the old pipe. don't know if it will work, i just filled it in with weld then grinded it all off. worth a try i thought.

ALSO managed to stick on an extra 33.92HP with the trusty k&n sticker would have had more but i don't have any ITG or GREEN stickers :lol:

unfortunately chaps i am looking at moving to saffron Walden, i have an apprenticeship lined up there in hydraulic engineering(well not there but the sourounding area) and the chances are that the truck isn't coming with me, i am going to be re assembling the front again and put the tray on the back where it was originally going. just not going to have the time to work on it like i did so playing silly b*ggers with the front wont be happening for a while:(.
not selling it though. it now has a much shorter list of things to do and it will be out on the mud alot sooner!
also got to clean up the garage a little so if you have seen anything come off of the disco that you want i will trade you for it.
wont be much some things i will trade for a bottel of Dr pepper!

glass for 3 door disco (front doors back)
pollybush kit (minus the hockeystick bushes)

also got the original dampers and damper turrets but I'm not sure if there any good.

again if you have seen in the pics anything that you not so much need but think you may find is usefull give me a shout because it will only get thrown away!

today not much was done, I'm adding a 9" grinder to the list and a small reel of Alli MiG wire

i got the replacement "panel" tacked in....I'm not welding it in yet because ideally i would like to lose the inner wings all together but I'm told its an MOT failure
but then others have told me that's rubbish.....so who knows!
re assembled the front of it too, its looking like a land rover again.

that is not a bad idea..... i don't want to put the disco lights back on the tub because they WILL get broken! so if i mount them on top of the cage that will be a problem solved... but isn't there a maximum height for lights? its going to get pretty big!

yes, i am getting one soon and my dad has one fitted. they do work and they sound cool.
you want to got to derv doctor for it, they make a bolt on unit.

Does it work doing what? Apart from making a noise there's nowt to be gained by fitting one. I can't think of one diesel racer (using an LR enigne) on the scene thats got one, I don't think any of the big three diesel tuning companies have fitted em either.

that is because there all using variable vain turbos, the dump valve is to improve response time and lag, with the variable vain nither is applicable.
