Oh the humiliation!
« on: July 21, 2007, 20:51:33 »
Towed into Billing behind EA51 MUD then taken home on a low loader.

Comming off the dual carriageway 2nd to last roundabout and cluth locks out. Adjusted it yesterday, gave it a good clean etc externally as its been a bit odd for weeks. Was sweet as a nut yesterday, nice snappy, easy gearchanges agian, not needing to wedge myself in the seat to push it to the floor etc.

Tried tightening up the adjuster at the show to see if a little more would pull it free but I suspect its jammed on the splines or welded to the flywheel.

O how I am not looking forward to doing this. Any recomendations for a new one. Also parts as I'll attack the other jobs that need doing, gaskets etc.

Not best pleased. have a pounding headache as the recovery truck had a wheel way out of balance and it was like riding home on a windy hammer.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

..sure its not a frayed cable? (if its a cable clutch!)

had similar trouble on a nova, tried a cable prior to a new clutch and sorted problem!

good luck

It has been said that, given enough time, a million monkeys bashing at a million typewriters would eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. Thanks to the Saxo forums, we now know this to be wrong

Thats right, rub it in some more. Mate in Calgary managed to nuke his truck before the clutch got changed so he's gonna get a cost on sending it over for us. Debating to follow the haynes manul and take everything bar the engine out, or do the reverse and pull the engine. Might make a few other jobs easier that way.

Loads of MC members saw us on tow/being loaded up buit one one comment yet.

So it looks like the box is comming out :)

Should be fun, now I need to source a clutch (got gaskets for the other jobs) and I might attempt it before the bank holiday bash.
