On the 200tdi engine the exhaust manifold is in three parts, the parts slide together then bolt to the head. The joints that slide seem quite loose and in no way gas tight - are you supposed to put some sort of joining compound in there?

they aint slid together there one piece, but i suppose i aint payed that much attention, ill have a look in a min to see

defender manifolds are 3 piece
slap some exhaust putty about them when building it up
