Firstly a big hello to everyone on here ! My name is Kev and i live in northants .
Has anyone converted a sammy to a 2ltr pinto engine ? I know it would be a lot of work fabricating brackets and mounts but i have an engine and auto box which i could use. Any help would be grateful. :D

Welcome fellow northamptonite
I have seen pinto's put into sj's, though not with an auto box(normally a type 9???), but they are HEAVY old engines.
Better bet if you wanted an auto would be a vit engine with an autobox. The engine is an easy fit but i can imagine the box will be a pig to install.
Gen x is probably your best man he has experience of vits and sj and can probably point you in the right direction.....
cheers Steve

Pinto engine probobly wiehgs as much as an SJ, not sure what advantage it'd give you either, they were never that powerful engines.
Have heard of VAG Engines, Pug Engines and even at least one Mazda RENESIS engine :)

Fit an Isuzu/vauxhall 1.7 tdi and a carlton/manta box. great fun.
If you already have the pinto, give it a try. The hardest bit is getting the intermediate prop made up to mate to the new gearbox etc.
Plenty of options to tune it I guess.....
