to kenlowe or not to kenlowe that is the question
« on: August 02, 2007, 19:23:51 »
right ive recently aquired a 200tdi defender 110. in my garage i have a nearly new heavy duty kenlowe fan that i had fitted to my series 3.

i was wondering weather it was worth fitting to my 110 and removing the viscous unit?

any input welcomed 8)

Ive got a kenlowe and its great, pulls way more air than any viscous, more power, and a lower carbon footprint too!!

Ive got a fan from a Astra on my 200Tdi with a x-eng fan switch.  Much better than a viscous and saves a shed load of space under the bonet once the fan cowl has gone.

Only fit it if you are going to use the X-Eng fan switch...the Kenlowe ones are poo!
Did everyone see that?  Because I will NOT be doing it again!

Agreed!!!

Plus it gives the added bonus of being able to switch two fans should you need to.... i fitted two small fans on my truck, one comes on if it gets a little warm.... both if it gets really hot!!
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

Yep, fairly easy.  I fabricated a fan holder that slots into the old cowling slots on the bottom & bolts to the top cowling holder studs...I was fed up with the plastic cable ties trashinf my radiator!
Hope this make sense?

Ermm... maby from X-eng

If you have a look round a scrap yard you may find a vehicle with a suitable housing which would be cheaper, but most vehicles have the switch housing integral with the radiator or other large component.

This is how i mounted my astra fan.  Not the best picture, but i rivited a peice of ally to the top and bottom of the fan.  Had to chop some of the mountings off but nothing major.

Then sat it in the the bottom where the big fan cowl sits and drilled a couple of holes and used the existing studs that held the plastic fan cown in place.
