engine change on a v8

Well started the engine change today and wish i had not. It's a big struggle on your own and not haveing all the right tools dont help.Wish i had throwen it at a gargde now and got them to do it. So if anybody wants to have some fun please feel free to help me. as i haven't clue on what to undo were bolts are and i just know i will forget something and rip it when i lift the engine out.

I'm not close enough to help, but you have my sympathy mate.

How far have you got?

My advice, strip as much as you can freom the engine with it still connected, if you are taking the EFi off then all the better as the top bolts from the bellhousing are a swine to get at.

When you are ready to split the engine and box, remove the eengine mounts completely and drop the engine to gain access to the bolts.

To un do from underneath I end up using every extension I have and I find myself lying just in front of the back axle.

Sorted now thanks. yea had every extenstion bar going to reach the bolts found thet it has had a new gearbox in it and two of the hardest ones to get at renot fitted I wondered why til i tryed to put new ones in  :evil: . think land rover must employe pigmes on streoids to fit the gearbox bolts

The easiest way to do and engine/box is tha way it's done at the factory, with the body in another building at the time :lol:

The thought did cross my mine but didn't have the kit with me to lift the body off.  :wink:  :lol:
