different rims on a cherokee
« on: August 30, 2007, 20:27:25 »
a mate of mine has a 1993 cherokee that needs new tyres. he wants to do a spot of green laning but mainly road use. i have read that 235/75r15 is the biggest tyre size he can put on standard jeep, but wondered if wheels from any other 4x4 would fit the hub, for example suzuki.
this is just to give a bit more scope to finding cheap wheels with tyres already fitted on ebay, etc.

cheers for your help.

They are 5 stud 4.5"PCD (114.3mm PCD).

Most other 4x4 wheels do not fit, but lots of makes do.

Generally they are not very cheap   - I'm looking for a spare set

235 x 75 R 15's are the biggest tyres you will fit on an unmodded XJ

Tell your mate to go for one of these sets.  They are all within easy collection distance from South Yorkshire.

Tyre and wheels complete and will fit.

If he starts to mess with wheels without knowing what he is doing he is more than likely to mess it up - get wrong backset, PCD etc because they do vary on Grands and wranglers depending on year etc.

Any standard TJ or YJ Wrangler wheels will fit an XJ, so there is a chance of getting a set of steels off one of these.

Grand wheels are a bit dodgy to be honest.  Some will some won't so they're best avoided to be on the safe side.

Newer grand wheels are a bigger PCD

Also some Wrangler wheels have a larger backset than standard Cherokee wheels - meaning that the inside walls will rub and spacers may be required.

Like I said if they do not know what they are doing then stick to standard Cherokee wheels.

They are cheap at the minute with the exchange rate :)

But do not forget VAT and Duty - if you do it will come as a shock when you are asked to pay again before you can have it  .
