Only input from me on this forum from now on will be silent.

I'll authorise users and moderate without posting.

If anyone wants advice about Discovery modifications I'll be in the live chat or you can PM me.

Seems the best solution - that way I can't let my personal feelings interfere with the running of the forum.

It was with a great deal of surprise and an equal amount of sadness that I found this post on here Thrasher.  :(

I am sure I am not the only member who has delighted in reading past posts and topics, within all areas of the forum, made all the more interesting, captivating and amusing by your own brand of wit and wealth of knowledge....and I'm sure I can say with great certainty you will be greatly missed by your absence if you refrain from posting because of the infantile mentality reflected by two particular members. Perhaps this isn't the only reason behind your decision, but I'm darn sure it's contributed towards it.

My only reservation is that they may be prompted into baiting you further, in order for you to go back on your word (...I'm sure they are of the same ilk that taunt the guards at Buckingham Palace)...so please don't give them the satisfaction of even trying....

Many of us would be much happier if you abused your admin rights and banned a few folk.  Go on, just this once!  :D

I've missed it as well, but as far as i am aware, Neil, Mud Club was your idea, you put it together and you developed it, mainly because of the idiots on "other" forums.
If someone has annoyed you to such an extent that you are concidering this silent roll, then its time to put your foot down and ban them.

I've been trying not to get drawn into this fight since that would lead to accusations of favoritism,  however here is the definitive word from me ..

I arrived this morning having not had much sleep to find a forum full of arguments and accusations,  this is not what I signed up for, this is also not an enjoyable thing for me to wake up and experience.

I tried to stem the argument last night by telling all concerned to shut up, however this notice was ignored by a person who has been repeatedly warned that "having the last word" is not always the best policy.  He was then placed on probation not for the attack against another member but by failing to take a polite hint that he should refrain from getting further involved.

This hint was further ignored and the member continued to post argumentative posts,  these were by and large moderated by a third party moderator (i.e. not the two who had been previously dealing with the subject).

This third party received a noticed this morning that the member in question was intending on leaving the club.

Having issued numerous (countless) warnings and having tried to be as patient as possible I have this morning honoured that intention and removed his account.    Note, only his account the posts remain as do everyone elses.

Its a new morning Nelly and gone beer-o-clock. Dont let one person get you down, and as pointed out, problem solved anyways.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Get that Babel fish back in your lug 'ole, and stay.

Your posts aways make me smile (apart from the technical ones, and I tend to stay off that forum, as it always gives me a headache!)

Don't let the thoughtless words and actions of a few put you off.  As a Mod, you will always get chumps trying to have a go, the vast majority of us support the mods, as you are there as an impartial adjudicator in most cases.

You'll be missed if you go! :(

Sorry to hear that, I only heard second-hand what's been going on.

I dissinvolved myself from the SEOC comittee because I wasn't enjoying it anymore.  This is supposed to be our hobbie isn't it? what we do to relax from all the people making our working lives harder.

But if you feel it's time to take a break it's your decision, I just hope you stick around

You've got to make your own decisions, there's no point in you getting involved if it's going to ruin your day.

However, at the end of the day this is YOUR forum and imho the admins have every right to get emotionally involved in the running of it.  Otherwise isn't it like squatters moving into your front room and making your life miserable enough that you go and live in the shed?

I've known you from Internet forums since well before the days of mud-club and it would be a real shame not to have your input.

Thrasher,
I just read the thread in question and couln't believe what I was reading, some people just go out looking for trouble and they look for a scapegoat (no, not an eilduck!) unfortuantly, it looks like you were that scapegoat, don't listen to a word that was said, I don't think you are any of the comments mentioned and i've 'known' you from both here and the DOC.

Well done datalas for dealing with the offender, maybe we can get back to the peaceful forum that we knew and loved before.
