You don't need a separate licence or owt to use Cctv do you? Only thinking of putting some cameras on blue to assist with spotting when off road.

You would be using Closed Circuit TV,i.e.  not receiving any public TV or broadcasting, so no problem about a licence.

Just imagine how many cctv systems are used in pubs,clubs, shops,garages etc etc by private individuals or companies. None of them need any sort of licence.

Careful about data protection if its a security system. Otherwise its just classsed as a camcorder really.

If it is running constantly I guess it would be considered a security system and you will need display a sign indicating that the vehicle is protected by a CCTV system and that images are being recorded.

I work in the fire alarms industry, but my company also does CCTV (Not my area of expertise) and I was also considering putting a digital video recorder and cameras on my disco to record my off road exploits. I'll have to ask the lads what the implications of the data protection act if used on a Landie would be

The L322 Range Rover has an option of an on-board wireless video camera.   However, afaik (I don't have the pleasure of owning one) it doesn't record.  If you're not recording, it won't be a problem anyway - just like you don't need a license to hold a digital camera up in the air and look at the viewfinder.  If you're recording it might be different, but I'd have thought you'd have been pretty safe.

What i'm thinking of doing is having some bullet cam's looking down/under Bigbluemaverick in order to better see what i'm about to rip off his under side on rocks and stumps and stuff, bit like a reverse camera on a truck. :D

Most hgv's have reversing camera's fitted and my old wagon had cctv on it that recored the journey so i can't see it beening a problem to fit cctv to your ride. Plus iirc halfords sell a camera and screen kit.

You don't need to be registered with the data protection registra to have home cctv.

You don't need to have signs up stating that you have CCTV either.

If some nowt gets caught on CCTV at home doing owt illegal then the evidence IS still admissable in court although you would need some pretty good kit to get a positive ID of someone. The video may support a presecution along with other witness evidence.

I'm fitting a reversing camera to my disco currently and have also used bullet cans to record offroad attempts ! A rather crude washer jet system was also tested and work very efectively, also the cameras dunkability makes for some interesting veiwing.
