Is there a web site where you can type in Engine/Gearbox/Axle/Transfer Box serial numbers, to see what they represent?  :-k  :-k  :-k  :-k

There are various sites on the net with the codes for rover v8 engines, not sure about other LR engines though.

For gearbox/trnasphere box then try the ashcroft site and and just follow the identifiaction guides
http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/category_4.html

Not sure about axles.
