Just a quick question... will our 98 300TDi Disco pass the MOT without middle box, and rear, oh and an EGR removal?

As long as it's not too loud it will go through.

The EGR system is supposed to help with unburnt hydrocarbons, but I think on vehicles older diesel vehicles the MOT only requires an oppacity check.

Dont hold me to this but a friend told me that the egr only works when the engine doesnt require any power. on the mot the tester is suppost to rev it to the guv and the engine is requiring power so the egr is switched off. and as regards to the exhaust well cast your ear to a scoody sti with a big bore!

Oh n btw was thinking of doing the same as you with the exhaust and egr. Has it made a difference to pick up and econemy?

Erm, we have a straight through middle which we got cheap, and that was going to be it. Then we decided we're having a side exsit exhaust which we need to remove the back box to do so and thought well will this pass MOT etc... so no its not done yet but will be done soon. As for the EGR theres not much of a difference but, as I say every little helps... (no my phrase not Sainsburys!   )

nope sniffer up the exhaust. I was told once that more veg oil to diesel mix the lower the emmisions it is and I tried to remember how much it was for zero emission and put 6litres in. Seemed to work lovely.

i was running on 95% veg oil , and had 0 emissions, and it runs like a dream.

MOT no problem...sailed straight through. bar the odd bulb.
