Future road taxes

Is anyone worried about any future road taxes that may be ought in against out wonderful vehicles. I am worried, so worried im considering that fact that I may get rid of my Freelander TD4 now and get an Astra Sri :oops:

Anyone think Im going crazy and worrying too much? Help me please!  :shock:

maybe so but at least they tell ya they're plot unlike labour who back door everything they want to tax hike   :lol:

the likely truth is that any tax hikes will be for new vehicles, my tax has only risen slightly in the last couple of years.

dont believe the hype/ bs .

Politics is the art of pleasing the most people without actually having to do anything :wink: just ask Tony Blair....lol

Sri will probably cost more in insutrance than any Tax rise.

Maybe things have changed but my old GTE was never all that economical either.

Check out MPG's and Insurance before jumping ship.

My RRIII cost less to insure than my '97 Disco ES but that may be down to a hike because it had LPG conversion.

They get you one way or another!

The new higher tax bracket is only for cars registered after 23/03/06

Because they threatened to put up tax on alkyhol sometime in the future would you?

Dont look on diesel/petrol/roadtax as a threat, just look at it as an entry fee into a lifestyle. I wanna drive my big engined 4x4, and if they charge me to do it Ill pay, Its not just a 'car' , its part of me, so Ill just pay em and wear a big smile.

It also means all mthe 4x4 possuers will be selling their status symbles, and 2nd hand 4x4's will just get cheaper. :D

Are you saying your insurance on your Disco is more because it has been LPGed?  

I have a 1996 Disco ES on LPG, and my insurance is no higher than if it was petrol only............

The thing that bugs me is that they say they will raise road tax for enviromental benefit, when infact raising fixed costs (tax) whilst keeping variable costs (fuel duty) low means that to justify having a car (particuarly a more poluting) you will have to drive it more to achive the same cost per mile.

Indeed .. my 2006 supercharged is pre the hike - *just* ... oh how I laughed ;-)

Oh and the supercharged is *cheaper* to insure than the Disco ... go figure  :shock:
