Have You Been Imortalised?
« on: September 15, 2007, 19:52:58 »
Browsing around the wundaweb looking for a campsite in Derbyshire I found Rivendale Campsite. A quick peak at http://www.maps.live.com to check it out showed me a pay and pay site opposite... cool!

A little further research teells me this is Kirton Off road Centre (KORC) and there seems to be some people playing.

Were you immortalised on the overhead camera...?

Were you there?

KORC is in Lincolnshire so I doubt it was Kirton over the road from a place in Derbyshire.

I think that is the site used by the Buxton and District Land Rover Club for their driving days etc(Hartingdon Quarry). It's certainly not KORC as their site is considerably larger and in Lincs.

Definitely not KORC, which just happens to be our local site.

We did however stay at the Rivendale campsite (which is in a quarry!) last month for a few days and noticed the off road site across the other side of the road. There wasn't any signs up to say when pay & play was, but there was a couple of portaloos there, so it is probably used sometimes.

Here's a link for an aerial photo of KORC - well worth a visit

http://www.multimap.com/maps/?&t=l&map=53.5029,-0.5763|12|4&loc=GB:53.5029:-0.5763:12#t=l&map=53.5029,-0.5763|15|8&loc=GB:53.5029:-0.5763:12

Use the link , then click on aerial, then zoom in a bit - you can't miss it!

I have to say, I don't know about the rest of the country, but the overheads of both Luton and Staplehurst are at the very least 8 to 9 years old.

Therefore, if the resolution were good enough, you could find me around El Pardo, in Madrid, just look for a bunch of idiots on horses with funny hats :D
