I have been inspired by the Classic Songs thread! So many of my favourite tracks are actually cover versions of songs, so I thought I'd start a fresh thread for us to spread the word of our favourite cover songs.

Thought Metallica's version of Turn the Page was disgusting.. Bob Seegers is just a classic...

Anyhow...Classic rock had a free CD a couple of issues back with a US band Tesla doing some covers......so here goes...Tesla..Beer drinkers n hell raisers by ZZ Top

The guy did about five albums of covers. But nothing sounded as heartfelt and as appropriate as that one.

Here was a guy who knew he was dying and was reflecting on his life - the chances he had and the chances he blew. It wasa confession of regret and realisation.

One of the songs of the decade.  8)

Embarressingly, I also like tAtUs version of 'How soon is now'  :oops:

...... and yes, before anyone asks, I am on tablets!  :lol:

Heh I went to see to Tesla a few months back :)

The were supported by Diamond Head.

However ... my list of favourite covers?

All thrash/goth/metal - HOWEVER - too many to list. If it sounds like the original I bin it.

If you are going to cover something ... do it YOUR way.
