This is what Google Earth has been wanting for years, a flight simulator that uses the pictures of the landscape.
It has a full HUD and mouse or joystick controls.

http://earth.google.com/intl/en/userguide/v4/flightsim/index.htmlWhen I tried the CRTL+ALT+A routine it took some goes before it actually kicked in, perhaps something to do with waiting about five mins before trying it, anyway eventually it kicks in and gives you a choice of two planes and start position.
Best flights - go to the Grand Canyon as the landscape is 3D there or turn on 3D buildings and fly around New York.
