I have been with the same insurance company for some 7 years..

Any how it come to insure the Terrano again and I was a bit taken back by the quote, normally no one could beat them!! But this time it seemed  high..

So I logged on and had a look after an hour of quotes, I managed to save £130

Well my insurance company wouldn't price match so they lost my business.

I thought insurance went down not up with no claims!!

My usual broker want £950 with to go with one underwriter. Used another broker, they used the same underwriter and it was £295 for better cover. Madness.

Ah yes, that wonderful bit in the phone conversation where they say "And how much did that claim cost Mr Brown?". It sounds so much better saying just the one car was a write off than saying "£3800".

Still, on the plus side, one of the locals managed to write off his nearly-new L200 and a couple of other reasonably new cars due to not hitting the brakes quick enough, £20k+ claim on that one!

My favourite bit is
"has it been modified in any way?"
and then
"are those all the modifications?"

A year ago my quote on the disco had a jump up to around £300, shopped round and got 100 quid dropped off it

This year they dropped another £15 off from last year, not complaining at all makes a nice change

Lancaster were great, £100 for a years cover on the series, but only for one year.

Next year it more than doubled! Shopped around a bit, and got fully comp at Sureterm for only a little more... Always shop around!

Last year my insurance was £959 with Norwich Union!

I phoned around and anow insured with the AA for £345

The NU wouldn't match it, and that was 15% discount.

So now I am with the AA

Ouch.  Even those are small claims compared to something that has injury claims involved as well... the insurance company could be paying out £250,000 or more if someone ends up in a wheelchair as a result of the accident.

I don't think I've ever kept my insurance with the same company more than two years in a row.  They alwatys try to stitch you on the deal.  I phone them up and say "I've got a cheaper quote, can you beat it".

"How much was the quote for, Sir?"

"I'm not saying.  I want to know the absolute lowest quote you can give me for the cover".

Sometimes it's got me an improvement, most times they say they can't help, at which point I say they've lost my business and go with the better quote.
