i want to take my p38 off road (green laning etc) and would like to know if any one has ever done the same. also can i get larger air srings to lift it higher than the factory high setting. what tyres are best? i have been looking at bfg mt 245/70x16 please help! i am new to this and would be very grateful for any info. thanks

I've taken my L322's laning. Both were fine *without* any mods. However for peace of mind I generally run them on 255/55/R19 MT/R's and have my rear recovery point fitted.

You shouldn't need to raise the suspension really - if you wanted to you could put spacers in, but the easiest way is to recalibrate the ride height settings on the ECU.  I wouldn't bother though.

Tyres will be your biggest problem.  Not sure on sizes but you might find out on www.landywiki.co.uk.  BFG MTs are decent tyres.  If you're using it on-road too and you don't want to swap tyres, you could consider BFG All Terrains instead.

Watch out for the trim (spoilers, plastic bumper trim bits) getting ripped off, or take an angle grinder to them in advance.  Other than that, just remember the diffs are on the wrong side of the vehicle...

Diffs? Diffs?  :lol:

It's actually quite nice not having them (well not having them exposed!) .... oh and a front bumper designed to be taken apart to go offroad!!! <faint>

if u replace the air springs witha coil kit and put a 2 inch spacer underneath 235/85/16 fits easy

jsut put some nobberly tyres on jobs done. they really do pick themselves up nicely! i take one off road regulary and have no problem at all! even through very tricky purpose built course! they work well. Just a shame there SO UGLY! thats only my opinion.
