ACE Pump.

Swapping one at the weekend hopefully, just wondered if there's any advice out there before I start the job, how long should I allow?? (It's on a V8 by the way)

straight forward job to fit but there is a proceedure for bleedin it up afterwards.this involves giving the car some welly round the corners and keeping an eye on the fluid level.If it air locks the ace wont work,the car rolls like crazy then lurches up straight again when the oil gets through.Bit un-nerving if it happens so be prepared :shock: .Usually bleeds up straight away when just the pump is swapped,takes longer if you have the valve block or rams off.Allow an hour to be on the safe side,never done a v8 one but done loads on td5 cos they were noisy,cant see the v8 being much harder

Someone told me I would need to be plugged into a 'testbook' to get set up again afterwards, is this not the case then? would be good if I could get away without it..

Only if you have trouble bleeding it,but it isnt normally a problem when changing just the pump.Try to minimise how much fluid you loose.The testbook/t4 bleed sequence bassically simulates ace operation anyway so its only like taking it for a drive, worth trying to bleed it manually first then resort to paying the stealership if all else fails,chances are the lr tech(of which i was one :oops: )will take it for a thrash round first before plugging it in to testbook anyway :roll:
