Best money you've spent on your truck?
« on: October 07, 2007, 17:03:06 »
I was thinking the other day of all the money I've spent on the truck over the years, and what's given me best value.

I'm going to nominate my tyres;  BFG All Terrains.  They're good on-road, not bad off-road either (leagues ahead of road tyres, but not as convincing as MTs), work well on all sorts of different terrains (mud, gravel, sand, grass etc) but the best thing is they last and last and last.  For the money I paid for them, I reckon I've definitely got good value out of them.

So what do you think has been the best money you've spent on your trucks?

i agree

i also bought bfg's and found them soo much better than what i had (colways) and i had the tyres on for about 3 yrs plus.

but i must add that the 2nd most important/beneficial purchase was new suspension/bushes

the ride was soo much better afterwards, i did have it lifted but i didnt feel like it was a boat nor out of control.

waste of space purchase.... :
the disco itself  :P

The £1500 that I spent only yesterday, just to get it through an MOT!

Other than that, the £25 that I shelled out for the Rangie seats to go in th front, Much more comfortable than the standard ones.

Pound from the pound shop - interior light, magnetic (so attaches to the bulkhead), and wire unravels enough to reach to the engine bay in times of need!

Also, buying a 'classic vehicle'........................tax free, with compliment from Her Majestys Government

Oooh, good question. All told, I think:
The tilt-top. Topless motoring is SO much more fun.

Closely followed by:
The CB - nothing like being able to take the mickey out of your friends whilst being far enough away not to get lamped...

Now, for sheer pleasure-per-pound rating, it gets hard to beat:
A thermos full of hot water.
Tea on the track. Not as much fun either of the others, granted, but much cheaper. Dare say it doesn't count as a vehicle mod tho, so probably isn't a fair comparison anyway.

£13.00 (Ebay) all in reversing camera (note everything else is on the Rangie)

£50 (Ebay) Full length roof rack on the 110 ....though it does lead to projects being spawned that otherwise wouldn't see the light of day.

£10.50 for 2 engines for my sis's 109....... but we did have to drive 200 miles to get them

By a big margin, the uprated intercooler from Brunel Performance, that transformed a totally undriveable slug, into a vehicle worth keeping.

On the Audi - Garrett T1

On the Zook - Roof. Made such a huge difference to the car going from a tatty torn, mashed vynyl one to a nice new one.

On the Disco - ONLY thing I've purchased so far is a tow ball :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Sorry for delay and all that.
