SWMBO has outdone herself with my chrstmas pressie this year... trouble is... she couldn't contain the excitement!

I've discovered that in the next week or so I'll be in receipt of a brand spanking Pentax K100 DSLR, with battery grip a 35 to 70 lens & a 70 to 300 lens!

Can't wait to get back to the old photography lark!

Friends introduced me to the tehnique of high dynamic range imaging, using the bracketing function in DSLKR's and photoshop.

Amazing being able to expose for more than one part of a shot then stitching the results together in photoshop.

check out some of the results here!

Can't wait to get started!

Looks like a great camera- I'm sure it will give you fantastic results!

It's interesting you mention the dynamic range 'thing' as it has always been a big problem for CCD sensors- not being able to effectivley record both the light and dark parts of a scene at the same time. The common manifestaion of this is burned out highlights (skies & clouds mainly) and dark shadows with no detail.

One of the reasons I opted to buy a Fuji DSLR was it's extened dynamic range (the CCD has 6 million normal pixels + 6 million bright area pixels). This feature extends the dynamic range by 2 f stops or 400%. So without bracketing and combining the results in Photoshop you can record bright and dark areas in one shot. Check out this photo I took in Alderney. Shot directly into the sun (without out it burning out) you can still see good detail in the shadow of the harbour stonework. Clever stuff!
