Our friendly Boys-in-blue will be along shortly to comment, but I believe that it's a highly 'nickable' offence to have them fitted - I have two mates who are traffic plod, and they take great delight in nicking chavs etc who do this !

Its a no-no but having had a car with them fitted legally, then forgetting to remove them none of them batted an eyelid. I eventually pulled them when I rebuilt the front end of the cars electrical system.

I think if they arent obvious you wont get any hassle, in my case i'd disconnected them anyway in case I did.

The LED strobes I'm building though are colourless, wether they are yellow, red, green or blue units, the LEDs are clear so you could go that route.

Use them on the road though and get caught and you are screwed though. Oh and the standard kit doesnt like water or mud much. Fileld the siren with mud, went to use it a month alter and got

Some of these strobes can be ordered with different coloured clip over covers, dont know any details, but it may make your life easier if you want to go this way

I wouldn't do it... we have a group of lads who seem to like them for some reason and for some reason my colleagues seem to be checking their cars a lot.

Choose another colour like orange...

The other thing to watch out is if you fit them your insurance my not be valid...

Have used mine offroad being of the medical persuasion when providing first aid on places like scramble tracks etc where a transit/crusader/laser cant get to.

I'll be putting a set of orange strobes on of my own design for Serenity as I'm fed up with rebering assistance and nearly being taken out. Its almost ALWAYS a foreign truck or a BMW too!

What I want to know is are the alternating brake lights and headlights ems only? I dont see anything saying that they cant be used as a generic warning and I'm sure I've seen them used on some of the Boarhunt wagons.

I think occulting headlamps are a no-no on anything except ems.

Looking at the regs supplied above, my Disco could get a tug then!

Bit annoying onsidering I have them for Search & Rescue.
Cheers
