Why?
« on: October 14, 2007, 11:04:27 »
Why do I feel righteous indignation at the Worst Parked Vehicles thread?

What does it matter if somebody I don't know and will never meet parks badly, perhaps because they don't have very good spacial awareness?

And why do I get humpty when I'm driving at 50mph through the roadworks with everybody else, and white van man shoots past at 80?

Or when I'm delayed 0.5 seconds at the roundabout because the person coming towards me doesn't indicate he's coming off?

And why do I tut when a chavmobile pulls up next to me with a thumping stereo, when I'm quite happy to listen to my own music loud (with the windows UP) when the mood takes me?

Really there must be more to life than this!  But I can't help it!

you and me both , I had the joy of driving to a family wedding yesterday in dorset and during one part of the journey i find myself the only vehicle on a fairly long stretch of road with a junction to the right approaching, car pulls up to junction and stops and then waits until i,m almost there before pulling out in front of me   when for 5 seconds more he could have waited until i,m past as there was no other traffic

Because it gives us the oppurtunity to laugh at and mock others for their misfortunes.
It is part of human nature. We have all sat there in wonder as the first jokes start to appear when disaster has struck, and have probably all laughed at them.
Its a defence mechanism, as we know we may be at fault, but if someone screws up it is always more amusing.
Thats my theory or maybe I'm just a sicko. :)

Spot on,

And it shows that the driing standards today are nothing like what they were 20 years ago! The driving test may be more difficult these days but you would at least expect them to be taught to park correctly!

who me :?:  probably

I was a laugh, something that been missing here for a while as people have petty spets at other members and then they turn to arguments to it brings the whole friendly forum feel down and it was an avenue to let off some steam, have a laugh at other road users who cannot park properly, the users that normally target us 4x4 users and bond - 'group hug' anyone

If you don't think its something you'd not like to read about then don't, we live in an age where your not forced to read it

maybe i'm over reacting on this one and if so - tell me and i'll grovel but come on, build a bridge and get over it, lets have some fun.

Make love not war or is that make mud not roads

=D>  =D>  Well said, some people take life to seriously, and this was just a post to have a bit of a dig at the ludicrous parking of other drivers.

Did everybody read my original post above?  My point was not that I'm indignant about the THREAD, but about the stupid drivers in it.  I've participated in the thread myself and have nothing against it.  But I'm not sure why I feel so strongly about some random person parking badly!

I would love to go into a show room and pretend to buy a brand new car and look at the optional extra list and see if indicators is on it!!!

But I have no idea why it annoys me that people cut accross from lane 3 to the slip road at the last second when I have been sat in lane 1 behind a lorry for the last mile waiting to leave at my junction.

I think maybe we feel safe in our "bubble" and getting annoyed we wont be injured or harmed and know we will never see that person again who just undertook us.

It is a mystery!
