And on the Seventh Day..........
« on: October 15, 2007, 19:17:49 »
The Lord rested, as he realised that the seventh day  was the 22nd October, which is the opening day of the Norwich Beer Festival!
And lo, the Lord did get excited as he knew that he would bring forth his  fiery Steed, that most noble of beasts, the Discovery, and feed it and water it, and it would carry him from the South, to North by East, and hence to the Land of the Angles, to the fair city of Norwich, where he would be tempted and tested by purveyors of fine quality ale from all parts of the Kingdom and beyond.
And yet the Lord was cautious, as he knew that too much fine ale would make demons dance in his stomach, and make wind that was worse than the bursts from Satan's bottom, and make his head spin like the whirliest of whirly things.
But the Lord did not care, coz he likes ale!

2007 Norwich Beer Fest, here I come! :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

You really arent on the same planet earth as the rest of us are you?

Aparently you missed one in Denmead last weekend... or maybe thats why you've been so quiet for the last week :)
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

It all depends on your or in this case, my perception of reality and/or normality. I did miss out on that one, but I was away unfortunately. There is always next year
Tomorrow I begin the trek, to meet first with my old mates for a re-fuel stop at my old local in preparation for the great day! Huzzah!

I hath returned from the Fest! Much fine ale was quaffed, including such greats as Old Stoat Wobbler, Where's the Cat? and Oh God, I've Just Papped Myself! (only joking on the last one)
My brain is now furry, my tongue needs a shave and there is a strange smell following me wherever I go. I'm not sure if that is a result of the Ale or the Kentucky Fried Cat that I ate and promptly regurgitated into the River Wensum!
When under the influence of Beer Fest activities, many strange things happen and much knowledge is found, namely Don't stand around in the car park of Norwich rail station after 11.00pm as it would appear to be a 'cruising area' and not for drivers of blinged up Saxo's or Massey Fergusons, if you get my drift! Mind you, having a shirt with 'Get It Here' written on it may not have helped matters!
So, in summary, I will be getting tickets for the 2008 Fest. Why? Because a Beer Fest seems to be the only place these days where you can go and have a good drink and not have some neanderthal reject try to hit you for looking at his troglodyte 'bird'!
Folks, look for a Fest near you! We are not all beardy weirdies, and ale is good for you. Liquid Bread!

And why didn't you drop by to say hello??? I shall take the snub personally

Of course, some of us have had to work and not get home till after 8pm. Then the biggest challenge is needing to persuade SWMBO to drive me to the bright lights (Norwich!), sit around for a few hours, and drive me back again
