I know a lot of people say put a 1.6 vitara engine in the suzuki sj bodys, Has any body here done that, and has anybody considered the 2litre vitara engine in. how much work was needed to be done. Jamie

2lt Vit engine wont fit in older (Non GV) Vits so good luck :)
I have heard tale of the 1.6 and some slightly more insane conversions too, VW/Pug TDIs seem common.
Theres an SJ kicking about somewhere with a Mazda Renesis!!!

im assuminig you mean the 2ltr v6 engine?
anything is possible but id start with the full vitara so you can
use the loom and ecu from the v6
if you can fit a v8 in a sammy 2ltr shud shoe horn in

hi jamie,i have 2 sj,s one jas a vitara engine which is a pretty straightforward swap,the other is a work in progress and has a 2.8 daihatsu which is a bit more complicated but you can more or less wedge anything you fancy in them.

the 1600 8v vitara engine is straightforward swap as all the wiring hoses etc are all roughly the same even the manifolds are interchangable,only thing to be carefull of is the sump clearance above your diff as some vitaras have different shaped sumps.

I may possibly have the 1.6 8v carb lump off my Vit for sale soon. Trying to negotiate its replacement atm...
