Auto box I take it?

Sorry but I don't have the bible to hand to give a diagnosis untill the weekend, somebody else on here must have a genuine workshop manual. Mind you unless you work somewhere like Ashcrofts and have access to a suitable pressure guage then you probably won't be able to do too much more than just changing the oil and filtre a couple of times.

Could be the clutch fork?? Its still time to drop the box but you could be lucky.

As far as I know the gearboxes don't just "go" like that, there is usually some signs?

I don't know about the rangerover, but the discovery boxes are prone to the fork failing. Good luck.

As an after thought, check your fluids etc, it could just be something as simple as no clutch fluid??

check your transmission fluid level, and see what it looks like at the same time.......

Could just be an oil probelm, it's not generating the pressure that changes up or one of the servos inside isn't working, hence no gears.

That said unless it's dropped some oil and run low there isn't much you can do to fix it.  Buy a S/H box with some sort of reputation, it'll work out cheaper than a recon.

Sounds like a result 8)

The transmission fluid should not be brown etc, so hopefully you have just saved the box (and your wallet)

OOOh, money to burn.  At least they do good boxs.  Have a squint at the yellow pages for a local auto box specialist first, might work out cheaper if they can find a fault.  I'm not knocking Ashcrofts at all, if you need a new one that's where to buy it, but they are understandably not a cheap item.
