I have got a bit paranoid about my bonnet wobbling about when on the motorway, so have brought myself a set of Bonnet pins (may be the chav in me coming out too :? )

I think i know where to mount them, but can anyone post a picture of where they have theres fitted.

mine are mounted just above the headlights. Hard to describe but...

When you look down on the headlights there are 2 holes that you can get your hands thought to change bulbs etc, mine are fitted on the piece of metal that separates them...

Fitted for exactly the same reason, didn't want my bonnet flying open on the motorway! Hope that helps until someone shows pics of that or an alternative location

Now that sounds about where i was thinking of placing mine, so looks as though i may be on the right lines, tanks.

As you can see I used a bit of angle iron to strengthen the mounting point.

I love the technique of dropping the bonnet to punch-mark the drilling points. Very ingenious.

Aero Catch is the way forward

The use the same style bonnet securing poll but instead of putting a small pin through the top (and it rusting after a few months) they use a plastic locking top (lockable avalible too)

Have a read of this thread to see how they look and how easy they are to fit

They are not as hard as you'd think
We fitted some to a car the other day in under an hour.
I will be replacing the rusty nasty pins on my Disco with a set asap

Where from? the very fact that they are bigger than my current pins will help cover up the rust.

I quite like the rust on mine! A little rust is a small price to pay for not getting hit in the face with the bonnet on the A66 I reckon!

Those aero-jobbies do look nice though......... mmmmmm, I wonder?....

Foound them. Did a search for aerocatch & it took me into their website.

Also found out someone is selling them on a well known auction site.

Well mine are fitted guys, many thanks for all help as always.

As the Catch Type ones are only plastic, my concern is once they fill with mud, and i am sure they will fill with mud, things are going to start grinding and getting stiff, wont they break ?

Hi been thinking of fitting these, can any one tell me, do I need to keep any of the other bonet locking stuff on my car still, )its getting harder and harder to open the bonnet so was thinking of replacing it all with pins.

I removed both the lock pin and the release catch from mine.

I have still have my lock attached, but i think i am going to be removing it. I removed the lock from my defenders bonnet when i had it with no problems at all (that had military type bonnet catches)
