Quandry ....

Right I need some help (cue laughter)

I need to find somewhere between Cumbria and Heathrow that I can stay overnight (hotel). The place must be picturesque and typically quaint :)

I have to get people to Heathrow by 3pm. We are staying the Friday night in Cockermouth, but am stuck for somewhere on the Saturday that will allow me to get to Heathrow (but obviously not too far from Cumbria as we want to spend the Saturday "day" in the Lakes.....)

Any hints?

What time do they need to be at Heathrow?

That's kinda the limiting factor!

Well.. if money is no option... stayed here Thursday night and it's fantastic!

It's about an hour from the M6 then (according to www.maps.live.com) it's about 2.5 hours to Heathrow down the M6/M40 (Avoiding the nightmare roadworks on the M1!).

Probably about 2 to 2.5 hours from Cumbria.

Try the Newby Bridge Hotel

South End of Windermere - It's actually on the banks of Windermere

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

We have decided on Cockermouth on the Friday night and then Grange-over-sands - and a rather fun drive back on the Sunday morning :)
