Replacing the Clutch - 3 or 5 Piece Kit?
« on: October 22, 2007, 15:28:50 »
Right guys,

Having failed on the motorway and lost all drive I'm sourcing the parts to replace the clutch.

As it stands I can select gears with the engine running without dipping the clutch (pedal feels normal)

I'm being offered the 5 piece kit (cover, clutch, fork, spigot bush and erm... something else!) or the 3 piece kit (erm... can't remember the parts involved!).

Which would people recommend I go for?

Also, is it worth taking the opportunity to change the slave & master cylinders?

Frank,
Can you get all the parts on a 'sale or return'  :?: , that way when the box come's out you will have all the bits   ,

When we done chris's (the second time) we had to change presure plate, drive plate, release bearing, fork arm (with welded bar) & the shaft that the clutch release bearing slid's up & down on, this is what had cuased all the problems as it had gone oval   ,

When we done mine last year we just changed the 3 parts, but done the master & slave this year   ,

Hope that helps
John.

Barmie, suspect as it's a kit they wouldn't do sale or return though when they do I know there is a handling charge. Oh... and planning to re-inforce the new fork before it goes in!

TDi... I was leaning that way as well... also as seal kits are available... it'd be the cheaper option when there ius a problem.
