Does anybody know of a spare wheel mount that I can fit to the back of my 90 truck cab ( tailgate)  one that swings away so the tailgate can be dropped............

Perhaps you can get them from the people that Scrapiron originally stole the idea from (unless Scrapiron actually invented the carrier).

try the pivlok spare wheel carrier, sold by paddocks

has a locking device on the lower mounting point where the carrier pivots

ie unlock the carrier and swing open, then open the door  so not suitable for station wagons (cant open rear door from inside) but should be just the job for you and a lot cheaper than scorpion racing gear

and at this point I noticed the n/s air vent wasnt fully closed so lets not forget the mud stained interior and the water logged kenwood 6disc cd

The original Pivlock would work fine as that only attaches to the vehicle at the two pivot-points on the offside corner, it holds against the tailgate or rear door (it can be used with either) via a rubber buffer.
WH make (made) one suitable for a tailgate as do several other manufacturers, they all work exactly like the Scorpion copy shown above.
